SUN, SKI & SCULPTURES

This is my first blog for this site featuring beautiful things created by beautiful people. It is impossible not to share a little about them since many possess a unique gift that truly needs to be told. This is especially true during many of our travels where we´ve noticed that no matter where you are in the world there is always that artistic person that will create and this is exactly what we discovered by the Dolomites in the Italian Alps.

To our surprise not only is it a region rich in culture, beautiful landscapes and great gastronomy...hailed too as one of the best ski areas in Europe...but its greatest treasure lies in its people. Warm and welcoming, their love for beautiful things is evident in everything they make from the homes, hotels, restaurants, ski resorts and the churches they built to their towns and monuments ..all speak of a place bursting with creativity....a place where artisans thrive and that which is home to many of the best wooden sculptures and hand painted furniture that go back centuries.

While there we visited many a famous brands in the sculpting world such as DOLFI, Conrad Moroder, Ferdinand Stuflesser, Demetz Patrick to name a few and there were no shortage of beautiful items especially focused on a religious theme which we at Curiositris are deeply passionate about.

Whether it´s to ski, hike, sample the delicious Germanic-Italian Gastronomy or to merely breath in the fresh alpine air and bask in its glorious nature, a visit to the Gherdëina Museum to learn more about the regions rich history in art and culture is a must.

So what originally was for us a nature and gastronomical adventure turned into a more cultural one...a most memorable trip where we surely got more than we bargained for 😊
